Equality in the home

All members of the family assume responsibility for their rights and obligations together, without distinction of sex or age, reflecting the values and principles of the family as the basic social unit.

A guiding principle at ADIPSA

Exclusion in Guatemala begins in the home, where unequal relationships between family members are handed down from generation to generation and then reinforced by society's institutions. Discrimination against women, children (especially girls) and the elderly inside the home can be seen as one of the root causes of many of Guatemala's social ills today.

Promoting equality within the home is a guiding principle at ADIPSA. We strive for equality for all members of the family.

Firstly, we make sure that out development projects benefit the family unit as a whole, as opposed to just one member.

Secondly, we promote equality in the home by promoting Woman's Development.
